03 — Why Cogvein

What Sets the Bench Apart

A few things that tend to matter to clients who have spent time looking for the right workshop.

Condition Note First

Before any work is agreed, we write down what we find and what can and cannot be addressed. No surprises at collection.

Matched-Material Parts

Replacement components are machined or sourced to match the original alloy and finish. We note whether parts are original or generic in writing.

In-Home for Large Clocks

Longcase and wall clocks stay where they are. We travel to Subang Jaya and surrounding areas so the piece never has to leave the family home.

Documented Scope

Each service comes with a written scope. You know what is included, what the timeline is, and what the bench rate covers before work starts.

Running Observation Period

Pocket watches and mechanical clocks are observed for seven days after service so rate accuracy and regulation are confirmed before the piece returns to you.

Telephone Support

Questions between scheduled visits are welcome. The Floor Clock Attendance Programme includes telephone support across the full six-month period.

04 — Next Step

Have a Piece That Needs Attention?

Describe the watch or clock, how long it has been out of use, and what you have noticed. We will come back with an honest assessment of what the bench work involves.

05 — Questions

Frequently Asked

Practical information about how the workshop operates.

Do you work on both mechanical and quartz movements?
Yes. The bench handles mechanical movements — including key-wound and manual-wind pieces — as well as quartz movements that have stopped or developed timing issues. The assessment note will describe which path makes sense for your particular watch.
How long does a pocket watch or mantel clock service take?
The Pocket Watch and Heritage Clock Service runs 3 to 6 weeks, which includes a seven-day running observation before the piece is returned. The exact position within that range depends on movement condition and parts availability.
My bracelet is missing an end link. Can it be made?
Yes. The Bracelet and Clasp Fabrication service covers end links, link pins and clasp parts for bracelets that are no longer supported by the original maker. We begin with a measurement session and machine the replacement in a material matched to the existing bracelet. Two fitting appointments are included.
My grandfather clock is too large to transport. Can you come to us?
The Floor Clock Attendance Programme is designed for exactly this. We attend your home for all work — levelling, pendulum adjustment, chime train service and cable replacement. No transport of the clock is required. The programme covers four visits over six months and includes telephone support between appointments.
What areas in the Klang Valley do you cover for home visits?
Home visit coverage includes Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and the broader Selangor corridor. If you are outside these areas, please contact us — we consider requests case by case.
Do you provide a written assessment before committing to the service?
Yes. All services begin with a condition note that describes what is found on the bench, what the work will address, and what falls outside scope. This is shared before any work is started so you can decide whether to proceed.
How is my personal information handled when I submit an enquiry?
Details submitted through the enquiry form are used only to respond to your request and manage the service relationship. They are not shared with third parties for marketing purposes. You can read the full policy on our Privacy Policy page.
